The NHS recommends aiming for 150 minutes of moderate physical activity each week—just 20–30 minutes a day. Trying something new at the gym or in a fitness class is a fun and effective way to boost your fitness and overall well-being!

Exercise releases endorphins—your body’s natural mood boosters—that can reduce pain, relieve stress, and bring a sense of joy. Regular movement, whether it’s running, lifting weights, swimming, or walking, can also ease anxiety and help you feel accomplished as you hit your fitness goals.

Did you know regular exercise can lower your risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and even some cancers? Plus, staying active is one of the best ways to boost your energy levels throughout the day.

Remember that any amount of physical activity is better than none, but regular activity is better still, so try to build your activity level over time.

Make time for yourself

Make time for yourself, even if you can't make it to the gym or to a class regularly, you can still exercise.

You don’t have to commit to an intense training routine or invest in expensive equipment to see the benefits of exercise, there are apps out there that can help you to exercise from the comfort of your own home, including Les Mills +, which is free for our Active members on the Active app, included in our memberships.

Exercising with others:

Working out in a supportive group is one of the best ways to stay motivated and accountable. In fact, studies show that exercising with others can boost well-being by 21%!

Exercising with others also helps to keep you consistent! Research shows that people who join group fitness classes visit the gym more often, averaging four sessions per week compared to those who go solo.
