COVID-19 Measures
We have an enhanced cleaning schedule in place, and ensure the air is refreshed regularly via effective air handling systems. There is signage in place to remind service users of the measures they can take to keep themselves and our staff safe.
There will be cleaning materials throughout the Gyms and activity areas and all users are required to use it before and after each exercise to wipe down any equipment used, including exercise mats. We also encourage customers to follow Government guidance and take advantage of the free lateral flow testing kits before visiting centres for activities where physical distancing is difficult to maintain.
All efforts are made to continue services, however, if staffing levels are significantly impacted and we are unable to source appropriate cover, we may need to cancel some activity. We will do all we can to avoid that, whilst ensuring safe practices.

Inspiring Active Places - New Facilities
Yes. We have lived a long and happy life at the Fort, but the building is no longer fit for purpose as a Sports facility and we need to make way for the essential maintenance needed to bring the building up to modern standards for its future use.
The age, size and scale, as well as the historical significance of the building, makes refurbishment of the Fort for Sports, financially untenable. The much lower investment needed to deliver the IAP Strategy will help us continue to provide the local community with accessible and affordable Sports and Fitness facilities in the long term.
No, we will not close the facility until the alternative is ready to accept our members.
Building work at Springfield is underway and we're expecting the facility to be completed and open to the public by the spring.
There will be an additional 60 parking spaces made available in and around the Springfield facility as part of the plans, 40 is the space known as the "Gyratory" plus 20 spaces at Springfield School that can be used outside school times by Active members. This brings the total number of spaces for Springfield up to approximately 140.
Active remain committed to offering facilities at Les Quennevais and in St Helier. The main facility in St Helier will be Springfield. Oakfield, remains predominantly a School facility Monday to Friday, however, it is intended there will be some provision for Active members in the evenings, weekends and early mornings.
You can find more information regarding the plans for Springfield here:
Unfortunately we have been unable to make provision for a Sauna and Steam in the facility.
