Our incredible colleague, John, is taking on a new endurance challenge this May—walking 100 miles around Les Quennevais Playing Fields in just 36 hours. He’s doing this to raise awareness and funds for CLIC Sargent (Jersey), a charity that has provided vital support to his family.
Last year, John completed a gruelling 106-kilometre ultra walk around the Isle of Wight in 25 hours and 41 minutes, raising an impressive £9,848.75. Now, he’s pushing himself even further with this new challenge, aiming to continue his fundraising efforts for a cause close to his heart.
“Our son, Alex, previously worked for Active at the Fort but had to leave last year due to severe leg pain, which was later diagnosed as cancer. Throughout this challenging time, we have received invaluable support from CLIC Sargent (Jersey) and Jersey Cancer Relief.”

“I have decided to continue my fundraising efforts by tackling a more difficult challenge: walking 100 miles. Instead of traveling off-island, I plan to walk around my workplace at Les Quennevais Playing Fields.”
“While I have completed in the Jersey Island Walk more than a dozen times, the ultra walk around the Isle of Wight last year was by far the hardest challenge I’ve ever completed.”
CLIC Sargent (Jersey) supports children and young adults affected by cancer, offering crucial assistance to families during difficult times. John’s walk will take place from May 16th to 17th, and he welcomes any support for this important cause.
