Men's Health Week, which runs from Monday 10th to Sunday 16th June, is about raising awareness about men's health issues, encouraging early detection and treatment of diseases, and promoting a proactive approach to wellness.
Men’s Health Week aims to empower men to prioritise their health and create positive changes for a happier, healthier life.
To stay fit and healthy, the NHS recommends that you get at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity a week, or around 20 to 30 minutes per day.
Any amount of physical activity is better than none, but regular activity is better still. Simple activities like brisk walking, cycling, or even playing a sport can make a significant difference in fitness levels.
Rest and Recovery
Sleep, rest days, and recovery are crucial components of any routine.
Getting enough sleep, between 7 and 9 hours per night, helps your muscles to recover better, can help to prevent injuries and can help with mental well-being.
Taking rest days allows for muscles to repair and rebuild after a hard workout, helps to repair depleted energy stores and can even help to reduce stress and prevent burn out!
Listen to your body, adjust rest days and sleep based on what your body is telling you.
Take Care of your mental Health!
Men's mental health can often go unnoticed and undiscussed. Societal expectations, stigmas, and a reluctance to seek help can prevent men from addressing mental health concerns.
Initiatives like therapy, support groups, and self-care practices can play a crucial role in maintaining good mental health. As well as engaging in activities that promote relaxation and stress reduction, such as practicing mindfulness, meditation, or pursuing hobbies, can contribute significantly to improved mental well-being.
