Tight shoulders from desk work? Struggling with back pain or stress? Try something new this January with our brand new MOGA Class, short for Men Only Yoga, at Les Quennevais and Springfield. Led by Zoe Mackenzie, an experienced yoga instructor with a passion for tailored fitness, this class ensures personalised attention to men’s unique needs.

Our new MOGA class focuses on a mix of physical asanas with alignment instruction, breathing exercises and mindfulness, catering specifically to the needs and preferences of our male customers.

Zoe’s class involves a steady, unrushed flow as well as held poses with postural instruction. There is also breath awareness and specific breath practices to bring softness and connection.

Why men only?

Men’s physiology, range of mobility and flexibility is different to women. The class will be more prescriptive to these needs, for example, there may be more of a focus on tight hips or spinal mobility as well as poses that require a lot of upper body strength.

This class creates a supportive, judgment-free environment where men can feel comfortable exploring yoga at their own pace. It’s about making yoga accessible and relevant to the male experience.

What are the benefits of yoga?

Yoga can significantly enhance your flexibility, mobility, and overall strength. Regular practice can help men to develop a greater range of motion and muscle tone, which in turn benefits other physical activities like sports or weightlifting.

Yoga can also help to improve your body awareness, which can contribute to the reduction of injuries during high-impact activities. It can also lead to improvements in your posture and a reduction in back pain.

There are also several mental health benefits, including stress relief. The breathing exercises and mindfulness involved in the practice foster relaxation. This can lead to reduced anxiety, improved mood, and a greater sense of emotional balance.

Come along on Tuesdays at 7pm at Les Quennevais and Wednesdays at 7:30pm at Springfield. Classes are free for Active members.
